PARTNER supports Gateway Neighborhood residents by connecting them to job-readiness programs, workforce opportunities, and small-business support that strengthen household income and build long-term stability.

As a core part of our neighborhood revitalization strategy, we focus on expanding access to stable employment, career advancement, and entrepreneurship, helping build a stronger, more resilient local economy in Perth Amboy.

Education & Workforce Pathways

Education and workforce development are essential to PARTNER’s Gateway Neighborhood Revitalization work. Through targeted scholarships, leadership development, and college- and career-readiness opportunities, PARTNER helps residents build the skills and confidence needed to achieve long-term stability and economic mobility.

Our education pathway approach recognizes that access to opportunity begins early and continues throughout adulthood. By investing in students at every stage, from high school leadership development to postsecondary and continuing education, PARTNER helps residents navigate pathways to meaningful careers and stronger communities.

These programs are designed to reduce barriers, expand access to education, and connect participants to the tools and support needed to succeed in school, work, and civic life.

Language Programs

Free ESL Classes for Gateway Neighborhood Residents

PARTNER is offering free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for residents of Perth Amboy’s Gateway Neighborhood. These classes are designed for adults who want to strengthen everyday communication, improve job readiness, and feel more confident navigating school, work, and daily life.

Learning English can open doors to better jobs, higher wages, and greater independence. ESL also helps residents communicate more easily with schools, healthcare providers, and service agencies. As part of PARTNER’s Gateway Neighborhood Revitalization strategy, ESL strengthens long-term opportunities for residents and supports neighborhood stability.

 

Spring ESL Cycle (10 Weeks)
Format: In-person instruction
Time: Fridays, 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Includes: Placement testing + certificate of completion
Cost: Free for eligible Gateway residents

ESL Program Eligibility

These classes are intended for adult residents living in Perth Amboy’s Gateway Neighborhood. All English levels are welcome, including beginners.

Success Bound Leadership Scholarships

The Success Bound Leadership Scholarships support high school students from the Gateway Neighborhood in participating in the Success Bound Leadership Academy at Middlesex College. Designed for rising juniors and seniors, the summer academy focuses on leadership development, college and career readiness, and personal growth.

Through this opportunity, students engage in structured workshops, gain exposure to a college campus, and build skills to navigate future academic and career pathways.

Scholarship Impact

  • Expand access to college-based leadership experiences for Gateway Neighborhood students
  • Strengthen confidence, communication, and leadership skills
  • Support informed decision-making around college and career pathways
  • Encourage consistent participation and engagement throughout the academy
  • Participant progress evaluated in partnership with Middlesex College through self-reflections, surveys, and participation tracking

The Achieving Success & Knowledge (A.S.K.) Scholarship Program supports educational advancement for individuals and families connected to the Housing Authority of the City of Perth Amboy. Sponsored by PARTNER, the program helps residents pursue postsecondary education, workforce training, and leadership opportunities.

Priority consideration is given to participants enrolled in the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program.
